The relevant question to ask is: What’s the rationality in a Name?

There are many cultures that place huge importance in names and naming of their child; in these cultures, a name is more than a nice-sounding label, a name can tell a story and pave way for a destiny.

The “Sheeco Foundations” is a brand wishing to impact and change peoples’ lives towards sustainable self-reliance. Influencing people not to lose hope but to step up and claim their place and space in all spheres of life through information, empowerment, skills development and providing the necessary resources and mentorship.

Sheeco Foundations is a newly established Non-Profit organization (NPO Reg. Nr: 297 – 975 NPO) based in Gauteng Mamelodi east Nellmapius. Our focus is to mobilize communities towards sustainable and responsible development. At Sheeco Foundations we believe in transformation from poverty to hope, obstacles to opportunities, and from oppression to triumph. As Sheeco Foundations we celebrate the rich diversity of our country and praise many individuals and organizations who steadfastly remained committed to the breaking of the cycle of marginalization and poverty in South Africa.

“Overcoming poverty is not a task of charity, it is an act of justice. Like slavery and apartheid, poverty is not natural. It is man-made and it can be overcome and eradicated by the actions of human beings. Sometimes it falls on a generation to be great. You can be that great generation. Let your greatness blossom.” Nelson Mandela.

  1. Education to create a sustainable, positive and nurturing environment for children, by providing good quality education with English as the primary teaching language. We focus on local, disadvantaged preschools.
  2. Skills Development: unemployed youth are trained in relevant skills that will improve their chances of getting access to the economy through either employment or as an entrepreneur. The adverse social effects of unemployment such as teenage pregnancies, drug & alcohol abuse, health problems and crime will be reduced by youth having sustainable employment. We currently provide training in education, IT and Fashion & Design.
  1. Healthcare: through Primary Healthcare Clinics we provide basic healthcare solutions to the beneficiaries of our various projects and to our communities at large. The clinics provide healthcare services in the following areas: mother and child, dental, HIV/AIDS, TB and general health.
  2. Enterprise & Supplier Development (ESD): as a large part of our exit strategy and sustainability plan ESD plays a critical role within our community development model. Within our communities we start business hubs to promote entrepreneurship and ensure that unemployed youth can start their own Within our hubs we have an element of employment, start-up incubation, small business development and procurement services.

Our goal is to uplift communities and truly eradicate poverty amongst the historically disadvantaged. The name Sheeco indicates that our beneficiaries will give back to their communities to bring about a positive change.

Our main target areas are several township communities. Our two main communities are Mamelodi east, Diepsloot , Mabopane Unit B and C ,  Eersterust and Orange Farm in Gauteng.

Sustainable Township Communities

Our vision is that through uplifting township communities and eradicating poverty, people can become self-sustaining and communities can truly be economically independent. Our projects have and emphasis on youth, women and People living with Disabilities.

Give communities the tools to eradicate poverty

It is our mission to educate and train people within historically disadvantaged communities and ultimately give them access to the economy. People from disadvantaged township communities must be able to overcome poverty no matter their race or gender. In order to do so we focus on training for youth, education for young children and access to primary healthcare for the community.

OUR MISSION

To improve the lifestyles and living conditions of the poor, unemployed, women, youth, workers and marginalised South Africans. To support on-going nation building, uniting South Africans and contributing towards making South Africa, Africa and the world a better place. To work with and encourage all stakeholders on the African continent to develop economies that would support efforts aimed at addressing poverty, joblessness, illiteracy, and disease. HELP US GET SOUTH AFRICA WORKING

Imagine yourself as a school leaver, without comfortably off parents to pay your university fees or fund a 'gap year' overseas. You need a job ... any job so you can support yourself and help out at home too. You're willing to do anything. Work in an office, a factory, a restuarant, pack shelves or operate the till at a supermarket. Just something you can build on that, with hard work and the right attitude, could start you on the road to self sufficiency and financial security.
